Writing

Welcome to Kainoa's writing page.  Here you will find all the additional material you need to convert sad, unacceptable papers into A's.....ha, yeah right.  Actually what you will find here is a number of practical guides to what I will be expecting from your writing.

Remember to always use the Writer's Checklist before, during, and after your writing process.

Use the Quick and Dirty Grammar guide as a means of reminding you of the basics as you're going along.

The Grading Standards page provides you with clear and distinct descriptions of what I expect out of papers.

When quoting from sources (which you will do quite a bit), do not forget to consult the MLA Citation and Plagiarism page, just to make sure you are not committing the "P" word through ignorance rather than malice.

The link that appears second from the bottom might become your favorite.  I strongly encourage you to take advantage of UDEL's free Writing Center.  And you can even sign up for an appointment online, if you don't like to talk to people on phones!  What more can you ask for?

A few other sites to check out are Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com for your quick, online reference needs.  You might also visit Morris Library's Databases for a link to one of my favorite sites:  The Oxford English Dictionary, which can tell you the whole history of a word (and why use the simple definition when you can delve into the word's history?).
