Assignment Instructions

1)  I will provide you with a one or two "BlogMe" questions on the Schedule page for certain readings.  You may use these questions, or you may attempt to respond to specific issues brought up during class discussion or generated by your own genius (use the "BlogMe" questions as a guide to determining whether you are experiencing genius or just being random).  Also note that, since the other student's blogs are available to you, there are a few more options to choose from:  like give an informed commentary or a rebuttal on someone else's blog (do not mock them or just yell, but respond by providing further evidence either for or against their ideas).  You may also use the blog space to post information you think would be of interest to the class.

2)  Please keep the format of your blogs consistent.  Make sure you have clearly marked two parts:  Part 1)  Your general reaction to the text.  This is where you can relax, and, I guess if you have to, use all the blog slang you want to use ("tHis bOOk suXs").  Part 2)  Answer the question/engage in the formal aspects of argument, using evidence from the text to answer/respond to the questions asked of you.

3)  Regarding the "size" of part two of blogs, I would say that you should aim for about half a page to a page single spaced in your word processor at 12 Times New Roman font.

4)  You can blog as often as you want whenever you want.  However, you must answer the question for Tuesday's class by Monday at 5 pm.    After you post your blog(s), and you're sure everything was published, e-mail me so that you can get credit for it.

Blogging Set-Up

Click here to go to blogger.com and set up your account. Note that you get to give the account a name and can make your display name whatever you want but make it anonymous. Please, for the love of the PTB, do not make it RoboPimp5000 or something like that. You're allowed to be creative, but don't be offensive.  You will be graded on your creativity as well as the subtlety or obscurity of the reference (just kidding).

When you choose a color scheme that you feel suits you, please make sure that your text remains legible.  They have a lot of choices, but it might be easiest to go into the html code and fiddle with color and font sizes.  If you need help with that let me know.

Also note that you're allowed to set up the name of the secret e-mail account that allows you to publish your blog by simply sending an e-mail. You're also able to automatically send the blog to an e-mail account whenever you publish a new post. It might be easy if you put my e-mail there; that way you know I get your assignment. It might also be a bad idea, since it means that whenever you publish, you better be sure you're not putting anything weird that you're planning on erasing later, since I'll get a copy of it unedited.

Once you get your account set up, don't forget to write down the login and the password and all that fun stuff so that you don't lose it. Then, e-mail me the website address the blog will be published at (it will look something like http://iluvRonblogger.blogspot.com). I will then make a link using the name you provide me with. Again, Please keep the blogging anonymous within the class.
